Meet the Hosts

Seri

As an experienced healer and longtime veteran of MMORPGs, Seri has mastered the craft of saving her companions from certain death. Unless her beloved doggies are calling, that is. If they are, you're on your own. When she isn't spending her nights on Final Fantasy XIV or Tera, Seri most likely can be found binging anime until the break of dawn.

I0N

Growing up, I0N wanted nothing more than to be a superhero saving lives. He had never been bitten by a radioactive spider, nor was he an alien, so the next best thing was to suit up in spandex and hit the comic cons. As a former geek culture beat writer for AXS and a head manager at San Diego Comic Con International, this guy has Geek written all over him!

Episode 38 - My Flashback Academia: I Nomu the Writers Didn’t Plan This
Boku no Hero Academia is one of the most popular animes right now, but I0N doesn’t understand why. Seri helps him out by sharing My Hero’s good points, and together they discuss why season 5 was rather weak.

Episode 37 - Rolling INT but Picking Fights: Seri Canter-un-bury Herself
Most people did not enjoy their high school English unit on the Canterbury Tales, but that doesn’t mean the setting makes for a bad “choose your own adventure” game. Seri and I0N discuss their experiences playing Choice of Games’ The Road to Canterbury.

Episode 36 - Cruella de Vil Meets Prada
Cruella de Vil, Cruella de Vil, if she doesn’t scare you… it’s because she’s not scary or evil in Disney’s 2021 live action movie based on the “villain.” Seri and I0N discuss this not-so-scary woman’s backstory, which is the subject of the first film in a series of planned remakes set in the 101 Dalmatians universe.

Episode 35 - When Your Marmalade Boyfriend is Also Your Brother? Yikes!
What happens when your parents swap partners with another couple? You get a new brother/boyfriend! Seri and I0N discuss the wacky, cute, and somewhat controversial manga Marmalade Boy.

Episode 34 - Surviving Delgo: The Worst Animated Film of All Time
What could be more romantic than a wrinkly, spotted turtle and a deformed moth-girl falling in love and ending a war in only a few days? Anything, really. Seri and I0N explore one of the worst received animated movies of all time: Delgo.

Episode 33 - Cherry Smile And The Search For The Ojii-San's Record!
What happens when a socially awkward poet and a self-conscious streamer meet? They slowly fall in love and overcome their insecurities. Seri and I0N discuss Words Bubble Up Like Sodapop, an adorable slice of life anime movie.

Episode 32 - 200 Pounds of This Didn’t Age Well
You’d think a movie about a fat girl undergoing a dangerous amount of plastic surgery in order to be beautiful might be relatable in a society inundated by unobtainable body standards flaunted on social media. Unfortunately, 200 Pounds Beauty just didn’t age well.

Episode 31 - An Astra-nomically Horrible Camping Trip!
Who knew that the ultimate school field trip was getting lost in space and chased by a giant ethereal ball that’ll spit you out in the middle of the universe if it catches you? This week, Seri and I0N discuss Astra Lost in Space.

Episode 30 - The Eternal Idling of the Sailor Senshi!
We thought this episode would be about Sailor Moon Eternal, but really it’s Seri ranting about the entire Sailor Moon Crystal franchise. I0N is here, too.

Episode 29 - Is-Vincible
Our culture adores superheroes, but we have certain expectations of what they should be like. Amazon’s adaptation of Invincible throws those expectations in the trash. Seri and I0N discuss the very realistic world of Invincible and its most vincible superhero, Mark Grayson.

Episode 28 - Incoherent For A Year!
The first episode of IGS aired on May 30, 2020, which means the show has officially been on the air for a year! To celebrate, Seri and I0N look back at some of their favorite (and funniest) moments on the IGS podcast.

Episode 27 - The Promised Veganland
After watching The Promised Neverland, we finally understand why mothers are so adamant about good grades: it’s so their kids will have delicious brains! This Mother’s Day, Seri and I0N discuss the twists, turns, and idealism of this popular Shonen Jump series.

Episode 26 - Hurts Soul Good!
Could Soul be the best movie IGS has ever covered? Seri and I0N discuss how painfully relatable this film is and all the beautiful messages it has to share about life.

Episode 25 - Wishing They’d Divorce After 20 Years of Swan Princess
The Swan Princess is a classic non-Disney animated film that holds a lot of nostalgia for many millennials. However, it didn’t exactly age well. I0N has forced Seri to watch a total of 7 Swan Princess movies (they’re still making these) so that they can discuss just how stupid Prince Derek is.

Episode 24 - Justice for the League and Torture for the Geeks
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is out on HBO Max! I0N survived through a combined 6 hours of literally the same film in order to talk about the differences between the 2017 theatrical release and this brand new director's cut.

Episode 23 - Raya’s Hot Dad Makes Every Sword Grow!
Raya and the Last Dragon made waves when its trailer was first released, with many commenting on similarities to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Now that the movie is out, Seri and I0N have something to say about this movie’s originality, themes, and cultural inspirations.

Episode 22 - Simping Over Baby Yoda’s Cuteness for 1 Hour and 2 Minutes
Whether you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan like I0N or a total noob like Seri, there is one thing we can all agree on: “baby Yoda” is the most adorable filmmaking creation we’ve seen in years. Now if only they could get the plushies right.

Episode 21 - Descendants of the Sun is Everything to Thirsty Ladies (and I0N) Around the World
Couples spend Valentine’s Day together; singles spend it gorging themselves on chocolate. Intellectuals spend it listening to Seri and I0N blab about why Descendants of the Sun is better than Crash Landing on You.

Episode 20 - Haru Yu Glad You Ain’t Got a Doppelganger From NiNoKuni?
Seri and I0N look nothing alike, and I0N would argue they think nothing alike either. But perhaps, they’re actually the same person?! Or so is the logic of NiNoKuni, popular Japanese RPG turned Ghibli-esque film.

Episode 19 - The Truth is That WW84 is a Mess
Imagine if you could make any wish and it would come true. What would you wish for? Seri and I0N would probably wish that Wonder Woman 1984 made sense.
